Lesson Targets and Goals
- How do atoms in chemical reactions regroup to form new substances?
- Does the total amount of mass change in a chemical reaction?
- What can happen to molecules during a chemical reaction?
Today in Class:
1st: Read the Learning Targets above with your table partners . Be prepared to answer questions about these to your substitute teacher when he comes around and asks!
2nd: If you do not have a partner to work with – ask the sub to please move with another student.
3rd: Watch/listen Veritaseum “I’m Atoms” —> for a fun review
4th: Now let’s get to work: you are reading TCi today: Atoms in Chemical Reactions.
- Open your TCi textbook: page 105.
- The substitute teacher will pass out the TCi Atoms in Chemical Reactions Worksheet: Unit 3; Lesson 7; Sect. Intro, 1-2-3 , Key Science
- Read the Introduction. Answer the questions.
- Read each section and then answer the questions on the worksheet.
- You may choose to open up TCi, Online. It might be helpful to refer to the same questions online?
5th Last – If you have time, IF you are all done, review and draw some sketch notes for atoms, molecules, elements, & compounds. Maybe draw a molecule from the molecule model sites.
Remember- If you have questions: ask the teacher, ask a partner. However, try to complete each question!
