Learning Targets:

  • 1. How will I apply scientific principles to design a method for monitoring and minimizing a human impact on the environment?
  • 2. Can I identify actions that counter-act negative human impacts on the Earth and its inhabitants?
  • 3. What are the benefits of interacting with nature?  Can I take some time to get outside and celebrate the nature outside my school or my house?

Today in Class:

  1. First we talked about this week’s plans and how they would be affected by testing (M-Step). (no homework this week).

2. Class Activity: Earth Day Challenge #1: Will You Be an Earth Day Champion? We worked on this together.

I defined Sustainability as:

Enough.For All. Forever.

Goal 1: We all noted any sustainable needs or environmental concerns around the AMS school building and around the school campus that we observed.

Goal 2:  Next, we all noted any positive sustainable designs or environmental strengths around the AMS school building and around the school campus that we observed.

We all walked around the school building and I pointed out some key positive sustainable practices as well as some concerns or environmentally friendly changes we could or should make. Then we walked outside to make more observations.

Students also suggested both positive plans and designs that our district/ school has for keeping our school an environmentally – friendly building.

When we came inside – we started to look at how these designs and plans tied in with Chemistry concepts. We will complete more of this worksheet tomorrow together.

No Homework –
