Learning Targets and Goals

  • 1. Can you identify key science concepts that helped to explain your results in your Golf Ball experiment?
  • 2. Can you explain the difference between the Control and Independent Variable sets of trials for your investigation?
  • 3. What explanation and reasoning statement will you state (orally and in written form) for the different results of the golf balls sinking and floating in the investigation?

Today in Class:

1. First: you and your partner had time to practice -and think about IMPROVEMENTS you made to your experiment for the Golf Balls and then you also discussed reasons for your results.

2. Some groups did run a final trial with the Golf Ball and recorded their results.

3. Teams copied and pasted their photos of results (Independent Variable and Control Experiment) to their class Google.slide. You then labeled this with the materials you used for each experiment.

4. Next, everyone worked on their online graph or data table for the Golf Ball Lab. You should have referred to your rough draft on the EDP Box Paper and made this using Google.Sheets or created your own graph. Some groups worked with me and i showed you how to make your own graph on Google.Slides.

5. Now your team observed other teams’ results!  What Reasoning statements could you write to describe what happened in your trials or others’ trials? It was very important that you could explain WHY these results happened! You were to use 2+ chemistry concepts in your reasoning statements. You wrote these on your Box Paper SHARE & COMMUNICATE.

HOMEWORK:

No HW – except if you have still not completed your I love Density Lab or your Metric Measurement Station Lab #2.
