Daily Objectives:

1. Students classify and correctly group types of matter by their chemical and physical changes which occur.

2. Identify evidence of chemical change through color, gas formation, solid formation, and temperature change.

3. Classify matter by its composition; arrange types of matter from simple to complex

P.PM.M. 21  /  P.PM.07.22 / S.IP.07.14 / S.IP.07.13  /  P.PM.07.23

Today in Class:
1.  Mr. Fowler checked the Write-Ins from pages 18-19.  This was assigned over a week ago– (as were pages 8-15).  See Feb 1, Feb 2 Posts– Bell Ringers, HW .
2.  I discussed and re-taught the Types of Matter notes (elements, compounds, heterogeneous mixtures, homogeneous mixtures).  I passed back the worksheets and you filled in the correct answers.  If you would like to complete a Make-Up Assignment for this, this will be given to you tomorrow for the Bell Ringer.

.
3.  Students completed a “Speed Discussion” –  students moved up and down rows to talk about what happened during the Physical and Chemical Changes Experiment; and analyzed and evaluated results.  When did you witness P or C changes?  What was the evidence?  Questions and answers should have been high-level thinking types.  You should have written your answers on a lined paper.
Homework:  Double-check Lab for Scientific Method (see Friday’s post) and your write-up.  Make sure to write a complete final conclusion.
