Daily Objectives:

1. Differentiate between physical and chemical properties
of matter

2. Define Matter; describe classification and grouping strategies for matter

3. Differentiate between physical and chemical properties

4. Use scientific observations and descriptions to compare and contrast various sand samples

Today in Class:

1.  Students completed the worksheet – Classifying Types of Matter  by their Properties.  This was a make-up assignment for students who needed to review these concepts.  Some of you did not perform well on last Friday’s in-class assignment that we corrected and discussed-so you could choose to make that up.
2.   Sand is a Heterogeneous Mixture activity:  partners scientifically observed sand samples and listed 3+ physical properties to classify  each of the sand types.  You were able to refer to your graphic organizer notes and ustilize a hand lens.

 

3.  Some groups completed this activity and moved on – to looking at various sand types under a 40x power lens (microscope).  This was COOL!
